ALLM

ALLM stands for auto low latency mode. It is a feature that lets a connected device, such as a games console, automatically tell a television to switch into its fastest, lowest latency picture setting, usually called Game Mode, without the viewer needing to change settings manually.

Many televisions apply extra picture processing, such as motion smoothing or advanced upscaling, by default, which can add noticeable delay between a controller input and the resulting change on screen. Game Mode typically disables or reduces this processing to cut input lag, which matters for fast paced or competitive games, but can also slightly affect picture quality, so many people prefer not to leave it on permanently for films and shows.

ALLM automates this trade off by switching Game Mode on when a game starts and switching back to normal picture settings once gaming stops, provided the television and the connected source both support it, typically over an HDMI 2.1 or HDMI 2.0b connection. Our TV for gaming guide explains how to check for and enable it.
